Bracelet Question?
Can Daytona 116518 & 116519's Strap upgrade to 116528 & 116509's Metal Bracelet?
Is it easy to remove the metal link of 116518 & 116519? Thank you for your kindly help! |

Not sure if this answers your precise question but...

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...rap+conversion Here, and on other sites, many strap Daytona owners have expressed strong desire to be able to switch back and forth easily between strap and A genuine Rolex bracelet (me included). The problem is that the strap Daytonas have a "hood" end clasp that fits beneath the bezel and creates a straight edge between the lugs...and Rolex bracelets have curved end pieces...so one can't simply remove the hooded end pieces without removing the bezel each time. Not desirable. My "solution" was neither easy nor cheap but it has turned out perfectly. Step 1. I looked at YG Rolex bracelets and the end pieces of the President seemed the closest to being "straight" end rather than curved. I also "visioned" that Pres would look great w/YG Daytona Step 2. I asked a highly skilled watchmaker/artisan if he could alter such end pieces to make them "straight" such that they would fit flush against the straight "hood" edge of the Daytona end piece. Step 3. Answer: maybe...bring me an end piece to experiment on...better to experiment on just end pieces without buying entire bracelet Step 4. Find authentic pair of President end pieces on ebay...buy them. Step 5. Take them to watchmaker...yes, it can be done. Step 6. Buy vintage Rolex Pres bracelet 7286 (non concealed clasp) Step 7. Take bracelet to watchmaker and affix to the already attached end pieces. Much skill and adjustment required. Not an easy job. Step 8. Sell the two extra end pieces to watchmaker in partial payment for a lot of great work. Step 9. Now have "two" YG Daytonas and love "both" equally. CAVEAT: I CANNOT GIVE THE NAME OF THE WATCHMAKER AS HE DID THIS AS A FAVOR AND DOES NOT WANT TO HAVE REQUESTS TO DO IT AGAIN. SORRY SORRY SORRY BUT I GAVE MY WORD All this said, if one wants to permanently take off the hooded pieces and fit a Daytona bracelet on the case...that I do not have an answer to! |

that turned out fantastic. I have a daytona with a leather strap, white gold, and I have been wanting to change bracelets/straps very badly myself.
Is this a guys only option or does someone offer an aftermarket option for this? |

If anyone knows of a quality, white gold, aftermarket option for this I am a likely customer. In fact, I may well buy several. One white gold, one with diamonds, one white gold mesh.
I love the daytona, meteorite dial, bezel, but I think the leather strap leaves it a tad bit underwhelming. |
