Portland from... Portland

Hello everyone,

I'm not totally new here as I've been poking around since April learning from you all but I figured it was time to introduce myself. My name is Paul and I'm from the Portland Oregon area. I am impressed with the knowledge of the group and the community you have built here.

Thanks for having me. I look forward to interacting with everyone as I search for my first Rolex or Tudor watch. I am find I am enjoying the search and research more than I thought I would.

I know it's not a "Rolex" photo, but here's a shot of my pride and joy. I'll let you decide which one I'm talking about.

Paul

portland is my favorite town (my son was born there). yes the forum is impressive, but not as much as that kid. he's already rocking the "man on the moon", so look forward to him living and working in our fair city (say in 25 years).

Thanks rwolfhaus123. She wears that Speedy much better than I do. Portland is definitely a great city. The food scene is on point and there is enough "weird" to keep just about everyone entertained.

Thanks droptopman. The PNW is a great part of the country to live. And as you know (judging from your handle), a superb place to find high quality brew.

Hey there Paul. Enjoyed your posts... my daughter is likely attending school in Portland this fall, and we will be coming to the capital of weird frequently over the next four years. Powell's, Voodoo, etc. Love that town. Congrats on your new Sub and let me know if there's a recommended AD in the area, as buying from out of state often means I can save sales tax :)

Hi chaskablake,

Congrats to your daughter on attending school here. We have some great options for schools. Voodoo is a must, as is Stumptown Coffee Roasters if you like coffee and Screen Door for some amazing comfort food.

We have 3 Rolex ADs in the Portland area. Two of them are Ben Bridges. I have no experience buying from them but they seem friendly enough. The third is where I purchased my Sub. The name is Packouz Jewelers right in the heart of downtown Portland. They are an amazing little shop. Family owned and extremely customer centric. I can't recommend them highly enough. Ask for Rick (the owner) when you go in. He's been in the business almost 30 years and knows his stuff.

Let me know if you'd like to grab a cup of coffee next time you're in town. I work in downtown so I'm a stones throw away from Packouz Jewelers as well as lots of outstanding Portland coffee shops.

Paul

Awesome, could use a new friend and watch enthusiast in Portlandia? If Screen Door is where they have amazing southern food, we have indeed eaten there in our quick swing through Checking out colleges last year. Incredible eats!

Yup. That's the one. We also have dozens of fantastic food carts for a tasty walk up experience. I wasn't aware of the rich food scene here until I started working in downtown.

Hey sda,

I wish I had more info for you on kid friendly breweries however I have not taken my little ones into one yet to try it out. People here are fairly laid back so I doubt it will be an issue. Also, most of our popular breweries are also restaurants so those are a non-issue for kiddos.

We have a few places in downtown that sell vintage pieces but I would say the nicest selection is Watchworks in downtown Portland off of 10th Ave. Alex the owner is a pretty nice guy. Their prices are steep imo, but you'll always find cool pieces there.
