LOL....

Go ahead and chime in. No sharpie necessary!

The YOL writing instruments are second to none when it comes to craftsmanship and quality.

These are pens that will be here in 500 years IMO. Just fantastically superb!

I have owned the Corinthian BP, the Pocket Barley, and the Regent.

I don't know of any pen manufacturer that takes the time to create a writing instrument that commands the hallmarks of the British Government. YOL has earned 5 of them.

They are expensive but only from the point of view that you can buy 5 of "them" or one YOL.

Quality to quantity....... (sigh)....

Make me glad that all of my pen storage cabinets are about full.

Because you want to make the rest of us feel better...... for spending insane amounts of $$$ on writing instruments.

Well done!

Me too!

I don't have enough room in my pen boxes for all the YOLs I would like to acquire!

Just very, VERY good pens!

You might be onto something here. I have to resist for at least a month or so. Got another incoming Omas thread to start and I think my wallet will revolt if I put in for a YOL right now. I've found a few for a reasonable price though. Going to do more research. How are the nibs on these overall? I'm looking for some flex in a gold nib.

They are quite nice and I want more myself but have to save my pennies as I just joined a new club to try and further my business. If it works I will be buying more in the future for sure!

Love the barley and I had a similar with MB in 925. Only problem was when using polishing cloth it tended to take fluff of the cloth and obviously you cant clean between the grooves...anyone have a view on this with YOL?

If you want it polished, use wright's silver cream.

I don't polish mine unless VERY tarnished.

I do prefer a nice patina to my SS pens and YOL do patina nicely.

Maybe to give yourself a headache...next time maybe banging your head against a brick wall will give you the result you need…..quicker!!! LOL!!!
Another thought is to drink more than a few Martinis made with bathtub Gin…..it will give you a good buzz but by the next morning you'll have the headache as well…..

Take care…..Leo

I also prefer the patina on silver which comes with the oxidation mixing with Sterling Silver!!!

Viceroy Grand Barley user here ! I love this fountain pen and it really is something very special. It always gets noticed and people love it. I have the broad nib and its reliable and beautiful to use. I'm thinking of adding the Pocket Barley as well. I hardly ever use my MB 149 now - this Yard O Led gets all the love. It writes better as well, laying down a nice wet broad line in the Yard O Led Claret ink I like to use. It has even eclipsed my beloved Pelikan's. However, I have to admit to always polishing mine with the silver cloth as I love it when the silver shines !

I added my Omega Seamaster in the photograph for a little scenery. The retro mesh bracelet seems to match the retro Barley finish of the Yard O Led. The notebook is a Filofax Flex with one of their handy pencils attached (Filofax used to own own Yard O Led)

Yard-o-Led really are nice pens and although the pocket version does not allow for an heir and a spare when it comes to cartridges it still feels big in hand.

The only reason I'm not perfectly crazy about Yard-O-Led is because the clip sits too low. As simple as that. And I feel that would be the perfect pen to carry in your shirt pocket; but with the prominent top I'd find it uncomfortable to carry.

That is a great observation. The Pocket Barley is the answer to that legitimate issue.

Beautiful pen!

Here is my Pocket Victorian nest to my Corinthian ...

... and posted (the Corinthian simply does not post well anyway)

The Pocket Victorian feels far bigger in hand than the Corinthian as well.

LoL

Not right now, busy selling off most of my Montblancs. I fear the YoLs will stick around for awhile longer but who knows, I'm old and often forget what I meant to do. Wanna buy some 50s Montblancs?

Here you can see a couple Grand Viceroys.

You wouldn't happen to have any Montblanc masterpieces in striated green?? I dare to ask since Black Friday has already hit my wallet with a sledge hammer ps I see a montegrappa or two in that pic. How do you like them??

Nope, no striated green MBs. And yes there are two Montegrappas in that picture. I like Montegrappa so much I even built a website to cover the modern pens from the 70s up through about 2010. It's here.
