Submariner dial question
I was looking to trade my dj to a jeweler for a used submariner. I noticed at 6 o'clock it has ticks above "Swiss made". Redial/service dial/fake?

Hmm that's strange. I'm used to seeing four or five ticks under the words.

Looks fake to me, and the writing on the dial is sliver instead of white
But I don't know much, so don't rely on what I say.

Text on the dial and the date looks funky to me

Whether it's real or not, that bracelet has some issues for sure, the 12:00 side has damaged links. I'm sure it's saging really bad.

That watch just looks off. There are several things wrong with the dial without getting into too much detail.

Also consider never going back to that jeweler for anything.

Is there a chance it might just be the dial? Isn't it illegal for them to sell it let alone have it in their window? It's one of the largest jewlers in philly

It's just that I'm in a situation where I had bought a watch from them originally, got it authenticated and everything, got nearly a 2tct bezel from them and they are willing to give me by far the best trade in. The watch I originally bought was authenticated and diamonds as well but other stores give me maybe 1/4 the trade in that they do. I could sell it online or independent for what they are giving me or more but it just sketches me out dealing with the idea of being able to get scammed for that much.

The general consensus is correct. Watch looks suspect.

There are all sorts of issues with this watch dial and bracelet so at the least jeweler should have acknowledged that there are non-OEM parts. It doesn't sound like they did this, so you should probably avoid dealing with them on a pre-owned Rolex. Remember wise words of the forum..."buy the seller not the watch".

Look at other options ... this sub just doesn't
look right ... At best it's a Frankenstein and even then it's not worth it ... Like others have said look into contacting one of the Trusted Sellers here on TRF... in any case , I would run not walk ... I'm speaking from past experience... |

I just kind of spontaneously got it 2 months ago or so and then fell in love with Rolex. Now I wish I was slightly informed before making a purchase but that's just me being dumb.

Just like countless others, it looks like the dealer you are using has a thing for ruining perfectly good (or clapped-out) Rolexes with aftermarket/fake dials & bezels (the DJ included). They could have at least re-lumed the hands during the dial swap, lol. |
