The G prefix is for Rolexes manufactured from July 2010 - I hear they will become real collector pieces on the account they didn't make many before deciding on the random serial number system.

I saw a G serial LN-C yesterday. My LV-C bought a month ago is a v serial and it was sent straight from Rolex to the branch.
I also saw a GMTIIC in the same window and it was an M serial. It had not been there long as the case side stickers were still perfect. This is an AD with a speedy turn over in sports models ans so it was probably recent

From what i can gather, the G-series comes after the V-series. I know many have said it is random (the G) but it is not. It may also be used in the random, but i looked a a few subs (no date) brfore christmas and the were all G's seven digit, which indicates they are 'standard' numbers. My take on it is, Z to M to V to G to random.

Sorry but there has been no Rolex watch ever as far as I am aware of. Thats become collectible by real Rolex collectors just because of a case stamp, don't believe in the Internet Rolex myths.

My 39mm Explorer has the "G" s/n. I was a little worried, But I got it from DavidSW. Enough said!!!

I also thought it was the random s/n but only has the letter G in the begining.
Now that the serial number discussion is here, I'll bet you the clasp code obsessed WIS is next!!!

Yes, but not everyone though. I'm sure there will be some peep going for a V serial if there is a health discount attached to it rather than a Random serial.....

maybe after the serial letter V one serial old style with a letter and six numbers and one serial with 8 numbers/letter random . very strange .......we think that the eight random numbers and letters are the new frontier

Who will be the last?
