Anyone able to give me some information about this Rolex?

Hello all,

This is my first post here on the forum and this happens to also be my first Rolex! It was a gift I received for Christmas but I know very little about it and was hoping maybe someone could shed some light on this watch for me.

Any and all information anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!

-Mike

Its a manual wind model 6694 that someone installed a fake/aftermarket dial on and most likely fake hands. That dial/hand combination never came from Rolex on a 6694. You can take the strap off and give us the first 3 digits of the serial number and we can give you its birth year which would help you determine the style of dial and hands that originally came on the watch.
6694 dials and hands are quite plentiful so its an easy fix back to original or if you like the way it looks then just wear it and enjoy it.

You see a lot of California aftermarket dials. Buyer beware.

It looks like the first three numbers are 378. Sad that it's not all original but I have fallen in love with the cali dial. Still, I'd like to know what it may have looked like

If anyone can offer me an authentic good-condition black 6694 dial and the correct hands I'll buy them right away, I have a dial-less triple amputee sitting at my watchmaker waiting for those items to complete the project!

That serial puts it around 1973 which would have stick markers and stick hands. Many options in dial colors and combinations of gold and stainless. If you like the California dial then leave it be. The only problem would be if you ever try to sell it. Most buyers want original. Here is a pic of a basic black dial with stainless accents from 1973.
