Your assessment of this Tudor 7021

Hi guys,

I don't post much here, been lurking a while - but would really appreciate your thoughts on this tudor snowflake I have seen at a local antiques fair.

I know the bracelet is a fake, so will see what the seller has to say about that. Currently priced at 6500 aud, but i think i could get a good margin off that. any way here are the photos.

Thanks,
Edwin.

Daial hands OK - case probably OK - need to see back of Crown Guards . not a piece to spend lots of coin

Thanks for the reply. What should I be looking at? I can view the watch in person at the moment.

It definately did! My camera isn't the best. The blue was quite deep and the patina creamy. The bezel felt sharp and the case didn't look too worn

Look at the second pic in the orig post. The endlink is too small for the 20mm case. It has thus eroded a nice chunk of the inner part of the lug. It looks like a legit case and dial. But it's not great overall.

I see your point, that makes a lot of sense. The dealer said it had been sitting in his safe, so not sure how much wear the bracelet would have had on the lugs but something very good to consider thanks!

I would definitely be inspecting it in more detail (ie between the lugs, movement) if i were to go ahead before purchasing.

Essentially you would only be buying the head so keep that in mind for value. That bracelet needs to be taken off and thrown in the garbage. It hurts my eyes looking at it.

Look at that second pic. See the endlink number 455b? Look at the inner edge of that lug. You can see how it has been filed down by the loose band. Can you see the damage? This part of the watch head is the most valuable component.

The cracked insert alone will set you back $1000

@soundserious , @harry_in_montreal , @offrdmania

Thank you all for your advice guys, really helpful! - I will keep your points in mind and if i contact the seller to buy it in the future, i will raise them. I would definitely need to see the watch without the band to assess the rubbing from the ill fitting reproduction band, and the serial #'s + a movement shot.

How much would you guys put on this piece - only going off my blurry pictures?

Thank you all very much.

I'd chime in with the very first post. there are many things to discuss while swinging a very big loupe, IMHO ...

I'd love it if you shared your observations - might save someone else from picking up a fake.

My best advice is to compare it with the many, many, many examples of a real one in a quick google search and you will see differences

There's enough here, even given the poor quality of the pics, to consider this for purchase if the price is right. Like you said, you'll need to remove the bracelet and check the Ref & SN. I'd also want to see the movement since there are already some obvious issues that could cast doubt on the authenticity of the watch. But I'm echoing @linesiders in that the dial, handset and case look alright. But as the potential buyer you have to know what is right/correct with the timepiece and what's wrong...and how much it will cost you in order to fix those wrongs. Weigh the pros and cons and go forward, or not. Good luck!

The only thing that stands out to me is the > shape of the rear of the crown guard instead of the ] shape as it should be.

To me, the length and shape of the hands all look ok, the dial looks ok, the insert is 50/50.

What else stands out?
