Asking for an opinion on this 1675 GMT
Hello everyone. I have been eyeing this 1675 GMT-Master. It is 1960's and is apparently one of the more sought after models. Pointed crown guards and the thinner case. It comes with box and papers and is currently in the hands of a very reputable seller. The asking price on the website is $32,000 Canadian or just over $24,000US. I was going to inquire about the item but I thought I would check with you vintage guys first about the price and if you could recommend any important questions to ask. There seems to be so much variation in the 1675 prices!
Thanks! Josh |

I'm no expert but the end pieces on the bracelet seem to be the wrong size.

Yes bracelet appears to be 19mm Jubilee (should be 20mm). Watch itself looks mint but $24K is a shed load of coin...

Watch looks great and is priced accordingly as it is a mint looking swiss only underline GMT. What either makes or breakes the price is the gloss of the dial. If full gloss 24k is a good price for this rare model.
Good luck! |

Description says "black high gloss dial with glit print". Not sure what you mean by "full gloss". Thanks for your reply!

Please note that finding great examples is very difficult nowdays. Even at a high price good watches are rare. Best of luck! |

Considering it having box and papers price is not bad. Ask for more pics. :)

Based on the one picture, the watch looks really nice. More pics would be great.

No, it does not "kill" the price if the dial has loss some of its gloss. Most of them do not have substantial gloss at all anymore. Dial condition, to include the condition of the tritium plots, damage, marks or aberrations on the dial should be factors when evaluating the dial along with the gloss. As mentioned in another post, an original dial that still maintains much of its gloss would add a premium to the watch. Its not easy finding a nice, vintage pointed-crown-guard GMT with a mint-condition dial - and is is much harder to find one of the earlier models with a mint dial.

I have seen some examples sold by Springer that are jaw droppingly beautiful and in fantastic shape, ie. Little to no polish, visible lug chamfers, perfectly even patina' lume hour markers and hands, no stretch bracelets etc.
I get that this is a more rare example and may come with B&P but for 32k CAD, I'd think you could do a lot better for less money. It's obviously your hard earned coin, and can do what you like, but I'd keep searching. Looks like the LB will be sold soon on CWC, couple nibbles today? |

Difficult to tell from the pics but it looks like the lacquer is matte around the top indexes. Still a quite nice gilt underline.

3 amazing watches in rotation. That'd be my route as well. And maybe add a nice white 1680 down the road to get a diver in there.
