If 2017 holds a Coke Cerachrom........

If 2017 brings a SS "Coke" GMT-Master II with a Cerachrom bezel like some are speculating.....What will happen to the value of the vintage "Coke" pieces, 16760 and 16710?

Move up, down, or neither?

Please weigh in.

I would not be holding my breath for a SS Pepsi GMT coming out of Basel..

Still, if it did, I would not expect it to have any affect at all on the early generations of GMT's; they are not competing with these models.

I would expect that the BLNR would suddenly be a dime-a-dozen afterthought though.

I would agree with Larry's assessment. For me, the excessive case size of the ceramic GMTs would still be the same - which I have not warmed up to yet.

Rationally, there should be zero difference in value based on insert color for watches like 16760 and 16710 - why would anyone pay a premium for a coke/pepsi over a black insert? You can easily get whatever color insert you wish and swap it in 30 seconds.

That would seriously destroy demand for the wg blro and pre owned values would tank even more.
Dont think rolex is gonna do it
So no threat to any previous models

Don't know, don't care. No matter what GMT bezel colors are introduced in the future the versatility of the classic 16710 GMT will never be matched.

Well said Dan....it's absolutely a true statement..whether its released in SS...White Gold....whatever...doesn't really matter...yeah, I suppose it'd be pretty cool, but the classic just can't be beat.

A big x2. Although I'd like to add the 16700 to that statement, mainly because I own one. I just find the case and overall proportions odd on the modern version for some reason. And the PCLs? Don't get me started.

I'm not sure about the value of previous GMT models if Rolex produces SS Coke.
But, I think it is very unlikely to happen. By the way, you have a nice fat-lady coke.

Have to agree Dan afraid ceramic is not the b all end all of bezel inserts.

I am WAY more interested to see if they bring out a ceramic TT Root Beer rather than a coke. Personally I still prefer the BLNR to the photoshopped Coke images I have seen. That said I know it would make a lot of people on here happy so I hope they do it!!

I feel like every year we go on about a red and black ceramic GMT. The answer is no one knows. Personally I think it's time to end the anniversary colors and work on a nice rootbeer two tone version and simplify the black model with white text and a red GMT hand. If they introduce the Coke GMT in stainless I'm sure it will sell well, but I certainly won't be trading in my BLNR. The blue/black makes more sense as a day/night indicator anyway which is the purpose of a bi color bezel.

Doubt it will affect past models, and as it will hit BLNR sales and we just had the D500 released I doubt a CokeC will be out this year if it is to be in SS, Rolex are listening more but they ain't no Santa.

If a new model had interchangeable bezels, that would be a game changer. IMO

If I wanted a new GMT, and the Coke was released...I'd still get the original black LN.

i think u guys are missing the point here. there's already black, batman and pepsi ceramic gmt. don't u think it's already enough variations for the gmt? why the hell would they make another one with coke?

They had three SS versions before so could very well again now, it's precedented, just don't think it will be out this year. As for in different metals there will be no limit, as Rolex roll out brand new models at a glacial pace and Basel comes every year.

They did, but it was also a simple aluminum bezel swap. They may very well make three ceramic variations but I am sure the bicolor variations will demand a premium and people will start trying to swap bezels out. Rolex has been onto this and has made sure that different bezels do not fit on different models. I'm not saying its not possible, just that it was much easier and cheaper to do in the past as far as production is concerned.

I believe a lot of folks are letting their personal opinions affect their thoughts on this matter. Whether you like ceramics or super cases or not, a new Black/red GMT would tank the values of the older models, at least for a couple years, if not more.

What happen to 16710 if Rolex come out with a White gold coke gmt? I think value of 16710 will double up.

The 'classic' GMT's are a stand alone design and has been said above, don't compete with the ceramic models. In this regard, their value will remain unaffected by a new release, and if the market continues as is, their value will continue to rise further, at least for the short term, after that, who knows?
Rolex Instagram feed at the moment is touting a fair few GMT Master posts.
Is this a sign of something?
