Display Stands

Looking to buy my first real camera for some watch pics and thought I would check the "bay" for some Rolex stands to assit in my feable attempt at some high quality photography

Eeeck, those stands are expensive...may use some props around the house instead

Also, can someone recommend a compact camera that will shoot good quality macro's, not Jocke type stuff as I am a complete beginner and would like to particpate in the picture threads

Jocke's camera is a 10 year old point and shoot, his genius is in the execution, not the equipment.

Hey John, you have gotten some good advice from DP and Marc, for good measure send Mike (Letsgodiving) a PM, he is super knowledgeable in photography. Just take a look at some of his posts here on TRF (http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=213671).

Consider a Canon S95......check out Amazon......a nice starter point and shoot. We have a Nikon D700, D300s, and the Canon S95, and I have found that I use what is easiest TO use, much of the time....which ends up being the S95!

Good luck with you photos........it's all about having fun!!

Yes, it is more about the photographer and setup than the equipment. If you are looking for a new compact camera might I suggest the new Fuji X-10? Highly recommended from several pro photographer friends of mine. I shoot Nikon full size cameras, but carry a Canon G9 (I'm not a big fan of the G11) for my walk around, but will be getting one of the new Fuji's based on trusted recommendations.

Have fun with it!
