Icon5 Is this a Rolex worth buying? 1803/9

Hi all

The time has (almost) come for me to purchase my first vintage timepiece.

I have been gathering a lot of great advice on this forum and external sources and now I have found this particular piece that I am in love with (1803/9). But before pulling the trigger I would love for some of the experts in here to give me a thumbs up or thumbs down on this piece as the vintage scene is very new to me. The price for this piece is around 12k USD.

Any feedback is appreciated! :)

IMO it seems to be on the high end for a head only 1803/9 as I would be expecting more watch at that price.
I could see 9-10k USD for it.
No dog in the fight, but since you are in Copenhagen you might be interested in talking to this London seller from the other Vintage Rolex Forum (VRF).

Prices are dropping for these, no way I would go there for head only.

To me seems bit steep for its condition and day-wheel variant. The fully in-situ lume plots and hands are very nice cream hue and go well with a silver sunburst mind....

Thank you for your input - really appreciate it. Do you guys have any alternative 1803/9 in mind that you believe are better for the price?

This is an amazing piece. Do you think i get more value of a watch with this compared to the one i posted? The edges does seem a bit sharper..

The watch I shared looks polished to me to get to those sharper lugs.
My point is the watch you presented seems rather overpriced.
I think you could make a deal for a better example in the 9-10k USD range.
I could even see the seller of the watch I shared accepting 10k USD or lower for it.
At 12-14k USD I would be looking for the bracelet to be included.

It has a nice fat mid case. The 1803 had thinner lugs than what you might see on a day/date today.

Prior to covid, this was a $6k head only. $12K would include the full bracelet. It is way too much IMO since I have seen them much less recently. Personally, I wouldnt pay anymore than maybe 8 for it.

Damn.. Would have loved one with a bracelet too but with a budget of 11-12k USD it is just not possible atm. Luckily, i am fine with the head only, but obviously dont want to overpay. Sounds to all of you like i should be able to find something similar in the 8-9k USD range, so i will keep the search going

If you find something, let me know
