White Speedy in person

Stopped by the Omega boutique in NYC today and was able to get some pics of the white speedy. The watch is absolutely stunning and Omega knocked it out of the park with this release. 6-12 month wait for the watch as per the omega boutique. Currently they were able to take 10 deposits on the watch (full price paid upfront) and those 10 spots were filled immediately. When those orders are filled they will be able to take 10 more. This is all according to my SA there who is a great guy and very friendly. I really like it and would love to buy one, but I don’t like the idea of having 9k tied up in a deposit, so for now, I’ll wait!

Looks fantastic Steve … I’m very interested in seeing one in person as well.

Great comparison with your Daytona too

Looks great! My SA is supposed to reach out tomorrow to collect my deposit. She said she has no idea on timing, are any of these for sale on the secondary market yet?

This watch is stunning! It's clear to me why it has seemingly become as popular as it is. Can't wait to see one in person myself.

Is the black model served with this numbers restrictions?
Maybe they're trying to keep the hype as long as possible ?

Thanks for the report. Man that thing looks great on your wrist. Dare I say I prefer it over the Daytona???

I'm going to give it a little while for these to get in circulation and the hype to die down a bit, but I will be picking one of these up eventually for sure.

Picked up on Sunday. Wonderful watch. Much nicer than the Daytona. The contrast of the black spheres on the crisp white dial is phenomenal. Legibility that the Daytona dreams of.

Thanks Steve. This is where I am queue'd up. Over 100 before me for the bracelet configuration and over 25 for the rubber. (My preference is for the rubber since I can swap bracelets with my black Sapphire Sandwich). I assume some VIPs would jump before me so there will be quite the wait. Hopefully it will be end of year at the latest.

I love the white dial, but it does give me Snoopy-lite vibes.

Definitely a fantastic looking watch. I really like that Omega made this white dial in speedy. I think this watch will be most hyped Omega in this year. For me this one looks even better than the 50th anniversary snoopy speedmaster.

Just tried it on. Not to beat a dead horse, but it's gorgeous. MUCH nicer in person. The depth of that dial is among the nicest I've ever seen, the bracelt is jubilee comfortable, and the whole thing didn't appear to large on the wrist. SO GLAD I put a deposit in, they're no longer accepting any $$. They're going to sell a million of these things.

I will stick with my Daytona given the water resistance of the speedy.

It is a beautiful watch. Much nicer than the Daytona, it is not, but opinions are subjective!

I pulled the trigger this morning with a full payment asked by my closest AD. God I’m so weak ahahahaha. Owning a white dial daytona and a 3861 speedy, both different masterpieces to appreciate, but as I said on another topic, speedy remains the most functional, by far.

The METAS speedy is a true 50M ("plus 10%"), if you take your Daytona deeper than 50M you're a madlad

Well played!

It's such an interesting comparison, the panda and white speedy. The Speedy is the only watch that tickles my brain the same way as a panda, and as you said, superior functionality (no screw-down pushers, better legibility, METAS, etc). The bracelet on the Speedy is much better IMO, and it's still a speedy pro - it will crush aftermarket straps. Plus I can wear it without feeling like a target.

If you handed both models to someone who wasn't influenced by the gravity of a Daytona, good odds they pick the speedy.

It will be interesting to have your long term view of the ownership experience of both watches.

In fact, these are subjective opinions and I like the Speed much better. Then in this configuration there is really no story, the albino is much more beautiful. Functional, practical, readable. Features that the Daytona never had.
