Tudor Submariner good for a few more years

Hi all.
I've been lurking for a few months reading and learning a lot and occasionally commenting where I have a little knowledge, but I guess it's time to come out of the shadows now that I have the watch that brought me here back in my possession.
I'd been lusting after a Black Bay, but they're way out of my usual price range so I had a search set up on my local equivalent to Craigslist. One day last year this popped up at a very modest price (I believe it qualifies as a barn find :-)

I got onto WUS and asked the good people in the Rolex and Tudor subforum if anything looked off and a few helpful guys (especially Brisman, who is also active here) confirmed it looked right. We all know the term 'buy the seller', well everything said stay away, but he did agree to payment by PayPal so at least I knew I could make a claim if nothing ever arrived.
Two days later a simple padded envelope arrived. No bubble wrap, no signature on delivery, no insurance.
It was also running intermittently.
It had been suggested that it was a 94110, but it turned out to be a 4th quarter '68 7021/0.

I dropped into my watch guy and he diagnosed a broken balance staff as the problem so after doing a little research about service options I left it with him to be repaired and serviced with strict instructions not to polish it and to take great care with the hands as the hour hand had a crack in the lume. He was worried about the lume falling out as he removed the hands, but everything went smoothly with that side of things.
Fast forward six months and I've finally got it back (he's way behind). He reinforced the hour land lume with a little something painted on the back and the service went well. Caseback and stem gaskets were replaced but we left the crown as is rather than replacing it. The case shows its age and is consistent with a watch that has been well used but not abused.

I'm normally a vintage Seiko diver and chrono guy, but I could get used to this one and I have my eye out for another bargain Tudor, should one ever cross my path.
Thanks for reading.
Tristan

Really nice! Amazing what a difference a new plexi makes on the appearance of the watch.

Thanks guys. I've been wearing it all week and loving it. The blue of the dial doesn't really come through as beautiful as it is in photos.

Agreed. Mine are the same. Photos show about 50% of the vibrant dial....in person is the only way to really see.
