Datejust movement screws very tight.

I am removing the datejust 16013 movement to repolish the case. I have removed the bezel(very easy) and the crown(even easier). But i am now stuck in that i cannot undoe the two screws that hold the movement in place. They are just too tight. Any ideas?

You need to turn them tighter, not looser.
Once they're down, the movement will sit loosely in the case, and then after you remove the stem, the whole movement will turn so you can line up the screw with the opening at the case tube, and you can turn over the case slowly, so the movement falls out.

Thanks for the help. Yes they do wind down to loosen as you say. I took out the movement, removed the tube and will replace the tube and gasket, and the gasket in the crown. Do you know what size gasket goes in the 6mm crown?

I get gaskets by party numbers, not size... I honestly don't know the exact measurements. Sorry.

Vanessa-(or anyone really) is there a cross reference chart of actual size of the o rings? The rest of the world uses ID and cross section but I can't work out the Rolex numbering system.

I play with old watches and generic case seals use the Rolex numbers a lot. I'm sure some would work/fit other cases.

Anyway, if anyone has something, I'd appreciate it!

Hi Vanessa, do you know what tube thread size is in the case on a 16013 Datejust? I think it is 2.5mm x 0.25mm? I was going to clean the threads of polishing compound etc before fitting the new tube.

Again, I know parts by part numbers, not size. I don't have time to go and measure every thing so I can help out people who have no parts account or official Rolex training.

No problem, a Q tip soaked in hot water and detergent does the job perfectly. I was not expecting you to measure an extreemly small pitch thread tap, just maybe read what size it says on it. I'm guessing though that you don't actually clean the threads with the correct profesional tool such as a 2.5mm x 0.25mm tap, but rather you clean them as i did in my very un proffesional way using a Q tip.

If you were to read all posts you would see that i have not made any personal attacks on anyone. Whereas I have been referred to as P.I.T.A by Sublover2166, told I was asking stupid questions by Furbo, and called a Wanker by Sublover2166.
