TBH I wouldn't mind paying $300 for a good citizen or seiko but not Michael Kors or any of these fashion watches. I have seen people (females) wearing ones that look like a ceramic 'imitation' chrono in all white/black/any colour. It looks like a toy.
On the other hand, she is 17 which is a target group of these brands...if it makes her happy and you are happy to buy it then everyone is happy at Xmas. Otherwise just introduce her to better quality watches |

They are all the rage, ages 15-30. Tons of girls wear them, they last years and look pretty good compared to any watch remotely in that price range. I would think that would make a great gift!!!!!
