Omega 2500d vs 2500c

Does anyone have any in depth info as to the improvements to the 2500d over the c? I have done some research and found varying info pertaining to the three tier movement similar to the 8500, but nothing as to why it was changed or what real world improvements can be expected. Also, does anyone have a definitive way of knowing which POs have the 2500d? Some are saying it can be differentiated by the serial number and the date wheel font, though I don't know that this is definitive. Thanks!!!!

All I can tell you is that there were numerous problems with the first generation caliber 2500 in the Planet Ocean. Once the fix was determined, Omega replaced many with the current caliber 2500. What those improvements/changes were, not sure but the caliber 2500 in the current Planet Ocean line is considered third generation.

Good luck in your quest and I'm sure some Omega experts will chime in.

I'm curious as to the differences and similarities between the 2500d and the 8500, as well as why Omega decided to implement this change to the 2500 movement. I'm a bit of a nerd, I love technical reading.

I've read 825, though I don't know how it can be confirmed. Through reading I have also been told the date wheel font is different between the c and d. Mine has the serial number and the "D" date wheel font, so I ordered the cosc certificate from Omega, I'll know for sure when that comes in.

a new date font wouldn't justify a new movement designation. the new 2500d has been extensively discussed already. the 2500D has a new 3level coaxial escapement. completey different than the a, b , c designations

I have an Omega PO 45.5 cal 2500D and I wish I had the same model and caliber only in a 42.

Here's where I am looking for advise. I found one PO 42 never serviced yet and purchased in 2011. It has cal 2500C though! Since 2011 is has been running fine, but assume naturally it is due for service anytime soon. I don't want 2 - I would probably want to sell mine, which was purchased in 2012 and never serviced.

In all your opinions, given that I really want the 42 instead, would you take a "risk" (if any) to go from rev D to C?
