5167 1A "new" look

I just replaced my 5167 1A bracelet version to tropical rubber strap. I always have this thought of changing it to tropical strap and finally I did it.

Here is the new look. Hope you like it. The strap is brown color (not black color) :)

I was always told by PP this was not possible due to the bracelet attaching differently. Did you have to do any changes to the lugs?

But it depends on the serial number of the watch. Mine is newer serial with PP seal. I bought it approximately 2 years ago if I am not wrong.

Nice watch. Strange though it looks like the black strap to me, not the brown one from the RG model.

A very versatile watch, with my preference being rubber

Looks great! The rubber strap gives it a "sportier" appearance to the watch compared to the metal bracelet.

Looks more black than brown, I would have got black so you might have best of both worlds.

The Patek brown is darker and make it look like black sometime

The brown color is more obvious under the natural light

I may change it back to bracelet one day, I am happy with the tropical rubber strap now and certainly will switch back to bracelet when I tired of rubber strap

You can put a strap on bracelet version but you cant put a bracelet on a strap version.

So if you ever think you want to put a bracelet on a 5167, then buy the bracelet version and purchase the strap as a replament/extra.

Are you sure about this? I thought as long as "Swiss made" was on the watch they were both interchangeable? Thought Patek fixed the issue?

Thats what they told me in the patek salon in geneva.

They explained to me that this was an additional reason for the price difference between the strap and the bracelet versions: that the case for the bracelet version was actually also requiring some additional steps in the production compared to the strap version.

Granted: that was in 2014, I have since decided to go for a nautilus instead and never looked back since I purchased mine so I have not kept up to date with changes to or specifics of the 5167 model since then.

I don't mean to offend, lapince - but I've often read your similar dogmatic comments levelled at the nautilus 'made to be on a bracelet' and 'a patek should have complications'.

These ex cathedra pronouncements are not very helpful. It's a matter of taste in the end and there are some who have different tastes to your own.

You'll see similar dogma on the Rolex thread whenever someone dares to fit anything other than an oyster bracelet to a submariner. It's not helpful and doesn't make you come across well.

So can you answer whether the 5167a (new model with Swiss made) "can" accept the 5167/1a bracelet? I keep reading conflicting reports about this.

I think he was answering my question saying that only rubber would fit the 5167a and the bracelet was made or case wasn't made for interchangeability.

I can't answer the question, i was aware that the newer bracelet versions can accept the strap but I'm not sure if I've seen someone go the other way.

Perhaps I am reading too much into lapince's comment. It fits a pattern however.
