TBH I wouldn't mind paying $300 for a good citizen or seiko but not Michael Kors or any of these fashion watches. I have seen people (females) wearing ones that look like a ceramic 'imitation' chrono in all white/black/any colour. It looks like a toy.

On the other hand, she is 17 which is a target group of these brands...if it makes her happy and you are happy to buy it then everyone is happy at Xmas. Otherwise just introduce her to better quality watches

They are all the rage, ages 15-30. Tons of girls wear them, they last years and look pretty good compared to any watch remotely in that price range. I would think that would make a great gift!!!!!
