Nah, as far as anyone other than some exec at Rolex, it is a regular production model. Rumors of it and others like the Submariner (no date) going away are just that at this point, rumors. Only time will tell mate.

No flames here either, not in this house.

Not yet. Though I would be surprised if it's around forever.

Hey Mike,

Assuming the rumours are true, you'd be better off just hanging onto it for now. You could reap a small profit if it does go out of production.

Myself have not heard anything the LV is just a normal production model.A rumour I would expect to keep the prices at a premium price and artificially high.

Now that I'm trying to search for where I'd heard the LV wasn't in production anymore... I can't find anything about them.

Besides the Rolex USA site where they call it a limited edition... It looks like I must be mistaken.

Some sellers are jsut being tricky I suppose.

Some third party sites say that the LV is discontinued and prices are now over $6K.

I didn't realize that the LV edition of the Submariner was actually regular production (for now at least). After seeing the Maxi dial on this one in person, my interest has shot up in regards to this model, even though I can take or leave the green bezel. Hmmmm. Does Rolex release any information to their dealers or others about the production numbers of this model? Most manufacturers let you know how "rare" a model is by releasing the numbers that are to be produced. I am going to have to inquire with a couple of AD's in my area to see if they have one. Hope all here are enjoying the holidays.

Hi Haakon,

Thanks for the good wishes. Rolex never let you know anything. I do agree many good manufacturers do let us know about their limited edition productions. Rolex won't. Just have to wait and see.

Cheers - JJ

Thanks for clearing this up--I admit I am a bit mystified by what purpose this serves except to allow for lots of misinformation. But the good news is that I still might find a new one out there. Excellent. Thanks.

Rolex never releases infomation on model production numbers. In fact when the most recent price increase occured my AD got a fax about a week prior to the event.

It seems that the sellers are playing the emotional card with misinformation,to lure the buyer into overpaying for something, thats a regular item.I could get the LV here two months ago for slightly more than the ss Sub/date.The AD stressed that its " special edition " not "Limited edition".

Regarding model changes and price increases, the ADs are just as misinformed as we are ...It seems Rolex love the "Fax thing shortly before any changes ... " They do have the right to do that, though...their product, sells well ...

Retail list in the good ol' US of A is $5525 for the green one...Now "they",the suppliers want $7k... This is arteficial and the "Demanders" must open their eyes...Future reference for reselling will be the list price and you may get slightly more, compared to a ss Sub,of the same vintage.

I think the suppliers are conveniently using 'Anniversary',to imply 'Limited'.I think they are getting mucho $ ,this way ... Business is business and if the Demander is willing to pay the price why blame the Supplier .. ??

I think if you spend this amount of $ on a watch, you must do your homework first ...
