New member, new to Rolex. Help!

I need help finding a watch for my wife. I'm not a watch guy myself but my wife is. At this time she has no high end watches but I would like to find one for her for Christmas. I have been on this forum for two days straight and have learned a lot but am still overwhelmed. I'm looking to buy used from a trusted forum member but need some advice on who to buy from and what watch. Here is a little info for you guys... the wife is 5' 8" 125lbs with a small wrist, not sure on the size. I guess I could wrap a measuring tape around her while she is sleeping if I have to. She is not real flashy, a little sporty I guess and likes the bigger watches. I'm looking to spend maybe 5k on the first go around. Any and all suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Well they do a 26mm and 31mm ladies DJ or the boy sized 34mm OP,and there are the ladies Yachtmaster 29mm and a mid size 34mm which they class as 35mm in a sports type watch.Just have a look in the who is who forum but any of out trusted sellers will be fine.

Wow haha not an easy task buying a watch for a lady. Especially for a guy who isn't a watch guy. I suggest getting her into a store and trying watches. And obviously this won't work if its going to be a surprise. But I took my gf into a store one day and was quite surprised at what she was trying on. She was trying on watches that I wouldn't have chosen for her. Plus keep in mind that a lot of women are wearing mens sized watches these days. Especially in movies and magazines. Another thing that is different for women is they like to match certain jewellery for certain outfits or purses, whereas a man will have one all purpose watch. Good luck with this one haha

I really like TT ladies Breitlings and any chick wearing a submariner is cool.

I see a lot of women wearing Daytonas. Might be something worth checking out.

I don't like the term "boy sized". You don't see boys wearing $5000 Dates and AirKings.

For your wife, a Date or ladies DateJust would be just fine.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, I'm trying to stay in 5k range if I can and from what I have seen, I think I like the DJ 31mm. I have seen a few with the white face which is my wife's style but I can't seem to find one used anywhere. I'm open to the Daytona though.

If she is into watches what styles does she have already? The Daytona will be much more than 5k.

So - sizewise you'll have no trouble with most Rolex bracelets fitting. But if you're unsure, the next time she's out of the house for a while just take one of her existing watches and measure the circumference with a string or flexible tape measure.

As for finding the watch style you seek, there's plenty of time. All the trusted sellers I know can overnight you the watch after you wire the money. To get ready for the buy, make sure you have funds in the bank account you'll wire from. And be sure to know how your bank operates that function (forms, etc.)

Also, have you considered Vintage Datejusts? Datejust 16220's can be had around $3000 - mostly Rhodium (silver) dials though.

like this borrowed pic from watchnet:
