So how do we know
Hi guys
Hope all is well with everyone I’m a little peeved that I got my Batman back from Dallas after I dropped it (yes I’m stupid and clumsy) so they had to do an overhaul but I get 2 years warranty So I tried the GMT function set to UK time and alas it did not work ..fell way behind So I said maybe me and I tried twice and same thing I mean .. aren’t they supposed to do an obvious quality check ? Which also leads me to think .. I sent my DSSD for maintenance maybe a year ago .. how would I know they tested it for 12000feet ? I mean the only way to really know is if I went down that deep dive lol I will be goner by then Thanks

Was the GMT feature functioning when you took it in? If not, did you let them know? Just asking because it's always prudent to pass along *any* pertinent info, obvious or not.
Now, as I understand it, after several decades of Rolex ownership, an overhaul is the all-encompassing-teardown-clean-replace *every* possible part in question. To think they missed the secondary time zone mechanism is a little unnerving. The only thing I can offer is something failed *after* their bench test of which they were unaware. Call them up, explain your findings and I'm sure they will make things right. As for the DDSD, you gotta have faith they pressure tested it properly. Please, don't DIY, we need good members here! Can't speak about the gmt but I was sure Dallas RSC was one of the couple, if not only place in the US where they actually have the pressure machine to test the Deepsea.
Someone here may be able to confirm. |

Do explain. The GMT hand moves in conjunction with the other hands. I don’t see how your regular hour and minute hands could be functioning normally and the GMT hand “falling behind.”

Recently a member reported he received his dssd back from rscny and the case back was not screwed down and the crystal was not properly seated.
ie there is no way the watch would have passed a pressure test but alas he customer was charged and took the watch home before he realized. Yup you just don’t know. |

i've heard of the date not turning back as the hour does, not sure if that's at all related or even a "thing".

when i take it in for service, I always make it known to my AD im going on vacation and want to ensure its waterproofness before I go, they always make a note of it in hopes the the RSC will not forget to pressure test it before it leaves
beyond that, you can always get a separate pressureteut afterwards at a local watch shop for about $10/20

Hi Jeff,
Can you give us more information? If you describe the issue in a bit more detail you may get some helpful feedback.

Yes I would set it to the UK time and would observe it hour by hour and true enough it would lag behind to the point it was 8 hours behind Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes they do quality checks - but humans also make errors. You will be sending it back methinks. You won’t know if they tested it to that depth. You will only know if they didn’t if you find water inside after going for a swim. But it’s an easy solution to have your nearby watchmaker do a normal pressure check to 10atm - because you’ll not be going even to that depth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Please explain more.. The 24 hour moves at 1/2 the speed of the 12 hour hand. It can also only be "read" off the bezel.

so its easy. I would set the GMT hand to UK time via Google. Then after a few hours I would check it again via Google and then I would see its really off I just wonder if there was any QA done at all..

I don’t see how this is possible.
Theoretically there would have to be a different sized gear installed for it not to run at the same speed/ratio. Something is wrong here. |

I had the same issue when I first purchased my Batman, and it drove me nuts.
Try aligning the hour, minute and GMT hands to 12 o'clock, and then set according to the instructions. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you. |
