Which iPhone do you have? Lighting is key with older models, preferably sunlight. Also you can hold down the yellow square to lock focus on the watch which helps sometimes. The 14pro takes great macro shots

Practice taking pics. Try different lighting, settings on your phone, angles, etc.

Natural light outside seems to work the best. Avoid direct sunlight, sometimes overcast days are better.

How the heck do you upload them to this forum? I can’t get the sizing right.

You need to reduce the size of the photo first, then upload it.

I always have to reduce the size in Photoshop before I upload through the forum. Kind of a pain, but it is what it is.

I almost exclusively use a iPhone 13 Pro for all my photos these days. It’s all about the natural lighting and shadowing to get the best pics. Sometimes you have to really work at a particular photo and others come without any effort. Note that the iPhone can over contrast so this has to be compensated for in some lighting. Just keep at it.

The iPhone has a very cool photo enhancement editor. You can apply the adjustments manually, or just use the wizard which is pretty good (and simple). Just bring up the pic, tap Edit in the top right corner, then tap the magic wand icon in the lower center of the screen. It will apply various enhancements to the pic (e.g. brightness, contrast, white balance, shadows, etc.). I can't find any fault with the algorithm they use -- my pics always look better.

My three rules….

1. Research the “Rule of Thirds”.

2. Delete bad photos immediately.

3. Keep “private” photos hidden in a password protected folder or app.
