I haven’t worn my watch in a couple weeks and now it doesn’t work. I usually wear it daily for the past 14 years with no issue. How do I manually wind? It is a ladies date just? Thanks

Unscrew the crown without pulling it out any further, and then turn it clockwise about 20-30 full 360deg turns. I assume you already know about the time setting and date setting positions.

It's possible that if you have worn it daily for 14 years, it's time to have it cleaned and oiled.

Of course, it might just be run down, but it should at least start for a little bit while you are moving it around.

“Might just be run down”? After two weeks of non wearing it most definitely is run down.

I have a vintage IWC that after winding, I have to thump it with my thumb to get it started. It’s been like that for over 30 years...

It has never been serviced. I have unscrewed the crown and done as directed and it still doesn’t keep time. Thanks and as soon as Reeds Rolex Services opens back up I’ll make an appointment

Put back on wrist

Before it stopped, did it still keep good time? Would be incredible if it did after 14 years of daily use without service.

Or, maybe the OP has never stopped wearing it, never had to wind it, and here we are now.

Fourteen years without service is pretty impressive.

That’s the best path especially if you have experience with them.

One thing to expect is the cost of a full service plus any parts that may have failed. On the low end, it’ll be around $600-700, but could be over $1,000 if something expensive broke inside.

Good reason to keep the box and booklets when you first purchase. One of the booklets teaches you how to properly wind and set the watch. No excuses.

Owned a Rolex for years and didn't know they needed winding until i was educated here on the forum.

Never really took it off in like 10 years, if i did then just used to shake it and give it light tap to get it running again.

The last three characters of her user name are "MOM," which means she could indeed be a mother (NC Twin Mom) In that case, I could easliy envison a scenario where she received the watch as a gift and wore it every day for sentimental reasons.
