Wow! Great pictures! River crossings suck. One little slip...... Funny, I was just talking about you yesterday. My wife was watching something on TV, a travel show of some sort. They were showing clips from the next episode, which is on driving around Iceland. She said, "Wow, that's beautiful! I'd love to go there." I told her that I knew some one who was there now, but he wasn't driving!" I then showed her your threads. She was very impressed. Nothing like living vicariously through one's friends! And she has always thought this forum was just about watches. Welcome back and post more pictures !

Yep; 7 days of wet feet! Tried to stay dry for the first river crossing, then we just gave up:) the sleeping bag compression sack was great!

Agree. It's lighter than the new one and less bulky. Only down side is the legibility of the dial in low light conditions in a tent- the new one is better in that aspect.

It's like wearing a poncho in a monsoon, you sweat so much under the poncho, you say "to hell with it, I'm soaked anyway!" I'm glad the S to S worked well. I've never had a problem with them, no matter how wet the environment. Great pictures, as always!

Glad to see you're posting again. I've thought about your expeditions on a number of occasions. As long as you're in the general area you should stop by Boston's North Shore for some chowda and lobsta. Let us know if you come across and relics from Leaf's treks.

Great stuff Steve!!

You put back the Explorer 2 on my short list of "my first Rolex", which now stands at:

- New explorer 2 (black dial)
- SDc 4000
- and GMT2 16710 (your favorite...)
