Bent seco.d and minute hands
Are you seeing it on your Pateks?
To minimize distortion on convex crystals they say. |

I don't have a Patek but I have some watches with plastic crystals that have hands with bent tips. It's not so uncommon as far as I'm concerned.

Damn that's a nice looking watch! Are you asking if there's a problem with a bent seconds hand? There isn't, common.

Yea, both minute and second hands are slightly curved towards the end facing the dial..
No marks on them though, at the bent |

As the minute and seconds hands sit nearest the crystal, they are often 'bent' towards the dial to prevent fouling the crystal at the outer edge where it is often closest to the dial. They can have this 'bend' as there is room to do so.... they have clearance because the second hand is longer than the minute hand, and both are longer than the hour hand.

Could be the photo?
Also doesn't appear like it is so close that it would need the bend, perhaps it is a matter of course to bend the second and minute hand? Any watchmakers out there? |

Having the minute and second hands curving towards the dial increases accuracy when reading the time, thats why 1/5th second chronograph seconds reading hands will curve right down to the index marks, that way the observers eye does not have to be directly over the centre of the dial to read the correct timing. If the eye is at an angle to the watch dial and the tips of the minute and seconds hands are a distance from the dial you will misread the time.
