My Excellent BLNR
Since I got my wonderful Rolex GMT II last year it has been losing around 2 to 2.5 seconds per day, or a little over 1 minute a month. I had been resetting once every couple months and not really thinking much about it.
I'm sure we've all seen the old Rolex manual page describing how different resting situations affect the time, but I had tried these with little affect. At night lately I keep it on a winder, because some days I only wear it 4-6 hours in the evening after work and some days I wear another watch. I had been keeping it upright with 12 at the top in the winder, but just as an experiment I thought I'd put it upside down with 6 at the top, when it wasn't winding. I remember the previous owner said he kept it crown down at night and it would only lose 1 second per day for him, so maybe a different position would improve upon what I'd been getting. I had reset the time on it just before this photo two weeks ago: EXIF Data: Date and Time (Original) 2014:09:21 17:46:23 GMT Master II BLNR by J.W.C., on Flickr And today I checked again: Date and Time (Original) 2014:10:05 22:13:31 GMT IIC BLNR by J.W.C., on Flickr In the past two weeks, it has constantly stayed within 1 second of true. Upside down on the winder it gains back the 1 second it might lose throughout the day being worn. Now, I only set the date ahead on non 31 day months and will have to adjust the hour hand for winter. The most easy thing to do on a GMT II, as the hour hand can move backwards and forwards independent of the minutes and seconds. Most excellent indeed. |

Excellent time keeping!
My Sub C basically runs the exact same way. It loses time right-side up in the winder or on the wrist and gains time when it is up-side down in the winder. I've been able to keep it between -1 and +1 for the last few months now depending on how long I wear it and how I keep it in the winder. |

Very nice! My Explorer II gains one second a day. If left vertically with 12:00 up, it loses a second overnight.

When i first bought my BLNR about 1 1/2 years ago it was running slower about 1.5-2 seconds a day. Now, as time passes, it runs constantly about 1-1.5 seconds a day.
The key is consistency. The 3186 movement is solid! |

Does this watch have the same movement as the late Explorer II 16570? Like exactly the same?
P.S. Amazing looking watch! I love the blue and black together. |
