Intro and my 20 Year Old Sub
I was 24 years old and I had saved up the money to buy myself a nice watch after a couple years of hard work post-grad. My credit cards had such low credit lines though, that I had to split the charge over both of them since the $2860 was more than they apparently thought I was good for.
It's been worn daily over these 20 years with no other watches in the stable until just a few weeks ago, and has been a great companion through many adventures. I just bought a 31mm Datejust with white Roman dial for my wifes' upcoming birthday, and I know she's going to love it when she opens the box. Hopefully I'll be adding more to the stable; glad to be here. |

Great watch, and thanks for sharing. I love to hear stories about folks who have been wearing one watch for many years — especially those about Submariners.
Your wife will LOVE her Datejust. |

^ I agree. My wife and I recently bought new watches to celebrate our 50th birthdays, her with a 31 mm Datejust with a diamond dial and I got a new Sub 114060. I had been wearing a 34 mm Date off and on for 20 years.

Great story! Could you post a picture of the (faded?) bezel?

The bezel insert was actually replaced because I chipped it. The one you see is genuine Rolex, replaced two years ago. The original wasn't faded at all, just had a big chip at 2 o'clock. I have a bad habit of wearing the watch when I'm working on the race car at the track and this was the worst that happened.
