I am offered this beauty… i have the 5270P salmon and was looking for a 5740 but could not justify the price so the same dealer showed me this one today…i fell in love… it has minor scratches (nothing major so a patek service wil clean it)… any owner feedback? I know this does not pop up every day, so thought to check feedback from experts here… i felt it is a piece of history… not cheap though!!

Perhaps it is misrepresented by the photo, but one concern is that the watch looks to have been heavily polished given the lack of definition of the outstep on the lugs.

What are your thoughts when comparing the watch to your 5270P, including in particular on legibility?

5970 along with 5070 were the last series to use the Lemania based chrono movement. So some collectors prefer them to the 5270/5170/5172 with the pure in-house chrono movements.

Over time YG watches has lost their popularity compared to RG and other metals. Howvever if you like the look and how the 5970 sits on your wrist, you can certainly own both the 5270 and the 5970.

I would pass if the watch has been so heavily polished that the lugs are no longer correct. A warm light patina of scratches is so much more preferable to me.

European watch company has this one at 220k - I'd rather buy the 5370P for less but both are amazing. Lot's of patek collectors consider the 5970 the perfect PCC.

Totally agree unless they have discounted accordingly albeit aggressively. Just note that down the road if you ever want to trade out, this could become an issue for future buyers.

If want to be around 190k. Looks nice. Great watch. My preference is the G for similar money but the YG is timeless.
