OT: Not Rolex but a vintage find

While this is not a Rolex I think its 1 of the nicest Automatic Chronographs ever produced in the 70’s.Sometimes the vintage bug takes you to other brands and this will be a keeper for me. My research tells me there is around 500 of these produced some had grey dials some black and they were branded Zenith or Movado but had the same ref#.If anybody knows more on this please pm me or post here.If this had been a Rolex with an El Primero movement in 1972 with only around 500 made.........
I picked this up locally a couple of months ago from the son in law of the original owner. His father in law was a watchmaker and this was his personal watch that he was overhauling at the time of his passing. It has sat in a safe like you see it since the 80’s until I purchased it. All of the parts are there and it has a dial with the perfect patina for me.Never polished or serviced prior its as they say all original. It’s a Movado (Zenith)ref # 01-0150-415. I cannot get a crystal gasket anywhere and LVMH will not service it here in the USA so it is off with me to Greece where Zenith who has the crystal and the gasket will service it after many emails with Zenith in Geneva. I have searched everywhere for information on this model has anybody here ever owned 1 ?
I did find this advert online.

Here it is as I bought it.

Very cool vintage chrono, Nikos!!
Restoring this baby might take some work but well worth it.
Best of luck and can't wait to see the results.

Thanks Dan actually it just needs to be put back together. The gasket is all that was preventing me doing it in the USA as they dont sell parts and refuse service. And they have the $2.00 part. LOL
I will post pics when its completed.

That's a cracker Nikos, nicely aged lume, a great score, having the original bracelet is a bonus too. I have a Zenith version in bits somewhere, must dig it out and finish putting it back together.
Stay lucky

Hi Greekbum,
I've got this Movado-Zenith Datron 360 last year. It is a very nice chrono, from 1970.
I did a quick research, and it carries the El Primero movement.
I am a vintage Rolex big fan, but IMHO this watch is as nice as an old good rolex.
Here is some additional info I've got in the net.

The "El Primero" chronograph was developed in the late 1960's by a colloborative effort between Movado and Zenith watch companies, and is recognized as the first automatic chronograph movement with date ever produced. The placement of the date window at 4:30 on the dial was a distinctive feature of the "El Primero," although Movado also produced an early "El Primero" variant with date at 12:00. Here is a rare late 1960's vintage Movado automatic chronograph with the high-grade high-beat "El Primero" movement with date at 12:00. Here's the details on this highly collectible automatic chronograph: MOVADO ("Datron HS-360" Automatic Chronograph) - Excellent 43mm signed stainless steel screwback case with unidirectionally ratcheting rotating diver's bezel with black/white bakelite insert, round chronograph push buttons at 2:00 and 4:00, signed 31 jewel high-grade high-beat "El Primero" automatic chronograph movement with date (calibre 3019 PHC), excellent original signed black dial with three sunken silver embossed registers (constant seconds, minutes to 30, hours to 12), raised silver Movado "Top Hat" logo at 12:00, silver hands and chronograph sweep seconds, date aperture at 12:00, signed original crystal, signed original screwdown crown, generic full-length stainless steel flip-clasp bracelet. The Movado "Datron HS-360" was one of the earliest versions of the "El Primero" automatic chronograph movement, and was issued only under the Movado marque. The "Datron HS-360" version of the "El Primero" incorporated the high-grade high-beat (36k BPH) automatic movement "which gave a better and more stable rate due to the higher frequency...automatic winding and high precision fast-beating movements made these extremely good wristwatches ("The Movado History," Fritz von Osterhausen, p. 154).

Thanks for posting the ad. The only noticeable differences are: My watch has the "Zenith " engraved on the dial as well, and it has a Zenith braceklet.
Any idea on how many were produced?
thanks
