the dial paint have been bubbled and the glass have deep scratches
upon checking on Bobwatch i entered the SN and found out is was manufactured year was 1945 :) WW-2 watch. can wait to go my watchrepair guy to get this beauty fixed. and hope i could find some additional bracelet links for my huge wrist.

should i have the dial repainted? any advise would be appreciated . thanks

Sent it out to the correct person (not to Rolex) and you will receive a stunningly restored watch.

Regarding the dial . . . don't have it repainted . . . or the value of the watch goes down the drain . . .

By all means do not send that dial for refinishing! Send her over to Bob Ridley in Dallas and you will get a beautiful vintage back.

Great looking watch..

It is not a 1945, but a 1956/57 model.. (Rolex re-numbered in 1953, so 40's and '53 on repeat)

I think that the dial is good but the crystal is scratched up. It will look much better with a new crystal..

If you want it restored then, as mentioned, Bob Ridley in Dallas Texas ( watchmakers.com ) is the place to go.. he may also have a handle on some links for that old bracelet, although I think that if you are going to wear it you should get a more modern Oyster bracelet..

I guess that you don't believe us......

Open the caseback... It should have a stamp inside if it was manufactured between '53 and '73...

The reason that so many charts have shown up is because there isn't anyplace to "check the date of manufacture".. Researchers have developed them to aid in researching a watch and they are only good for a couple of years either way and not expected to be accurate to the exact date...

Charts were developed from the watches that have a case stamp ('53 to '73), and known original sales receipts over the years, then extrapolation to fill in the blanks... it is not an exact science...

Hi All,
I have about the same model as yours, given by my Dad. It's 6694 Cal.1215. He bought it in Singapore in 1961 I think when he is still single and I wasn't even born yet. Of course the bracelet is a replacement. So it's not a WWII watch. It says Rolex Oyster Date Precision on the dial. It's one hell of accurate watch. Here's a wrist shot.

Hey jamazizul,

Look similar but we dont have same indexes , mine is dart shape while yours is stick marker.

Mine is 6494 not 6694 :)

Gurus may chime in

Definitely 1950s, not WW2 era. The serials from these periods overlap and are quite confusing.

Looks great, new crown and crystal? Now get some decent/correct new Rolex spring bars, or it will all be in vain!
