Hello, I've been reading this forum on and off for several years and finally decided to join. A little about myself. I have been an avid Rolex guy since I was 20 years old. I turn 50 next year. Ive owned other watches like Omega, Tag and Oris but sold them all.
My first Rolex was a Pepsi GMT - Paid around$1900 for it. While in the US Army I was stationed overseas in South America I was in Panama in 1993 and I went to the authorized dealer in Panama City and traded in the GMT for my first Sea Dweller. 16600. The SD was $2800 new at the time. I must say that is far and above the greatest watch. The SD 3135 movement is without a doubt the most durable, reliable watch Rolex makes in my opinion. I have never had an issue with this watch and it has yet to be serviced. Servicing is a whole other topic. I have friends who own Rolex watches that keep terrible time and some which have quit working. All I know is my watch keeps great time and it has never let me down. In fact the Sea Dweller was the watch I wore for four year straight. Every day. I did not take it off. I would swim with it, shower with it, work out, train, play golf you name it and never had a problem. When I bought my Submariner I did have the SD cleaned up and buffed out the scratches.    But my love for Rolex watches didn't stop there and eventually I was able to purchase another one . ... A two-tone Submariner and then a third.... A DateJust. Of course with each subsequent purchaser of a Rolex my wife also needed one each time I went to the authorized dealer.   Which brings me to this year. While on vacation I went to see an AD and fell in love with what else ....a ceramic bezel.....SD4Kc  The Sea Dweller is my favorite watch of all time as if you already didn't know. Take care |
