1680 red... but with white dial
I have a 1680 2 mil serial number. I got it from the original owner who did not like the red lettering so he switched it with a white dial. The white matte dial is really nice and in perfect condition if there is any silver lining on the cloud so to speek. Does the sub technically being a red sub change the value compared to a white sub even if it does not have the red dial?

Welcome to the Forum!
Absolutely, the fact it is in the Red series era, it is more valuable. If it had the original papers, it would be worth a bit more. But as with any timepiece, the condition also plays a part. |

The white dial significantly lowers the value of the watch. Nice red Sub dials are a few thousand dollars, unless you are lucky enough to find one in an old watchmaker's parts drawer.

He didn't like the red lettering? That's the first time I've ever heard that.
It greatly reduces the value. It is not a 'red sub' any more, despite the serial number, as a huge chunk of the value is in the dial with these old things. |
