If he’s waiting for video footage of the theft, it probably was not a home invasion, or he’d have it already. OP, please share more details of what happened. Thanks.

Just think of all those Louis Vuitton and Gucci stores looting all over the USA lately. Your assumptions are wrong. They are not stealing because they are hungry but because they want to escape their status of being poor. And being poor today means you don't have any of those wealth status they are stealing in the first place.
Drugs is the driving force for theft. In the U.S 90 % of the population are obese not living hand to mouth ! Every dirt bag I arrested for robbery of a person or dwelling were looking to get high of fixed. The looting that's shopping

Just type: "us hand to mouth percentage" into google search bar and it will tell you the exact percentage. It's officially declared at 30-40% by many University and political studies.

Obese population is usually the poorest as they are consuming unhealthy foods and drinks saturated with a lot of salt and sugar found in processed food that makes you obese. Healthy, organic, food is very expensive in the US and almost everywhere else.

I'd love to know their methodology. I've known several people making $300K or more that were "hand-to-mouth." Stay at home mom, 2.5 kids in every costly school activity under the sun, big house, multiple vehicle notes, single income. Keeping up with the Joneses is real. It can be a recipe for disaster.

For those who have asked for more details - why does that matter to you?

The fact they were stolen matters most…

For the boost in Google results…

Knowing what happened could prevent the same situation happening to one of us, and most people are naturally curious. OP, so sorry you lost your wonderful collection. I hope you get your watches back.

I agree - this is one of the great features (benefits?) of the TRF community. While it may be painful (perhaps even embarrassing) to recount the details, it could help one of more of us falling prey to this circumstance.

Not just the US......

The UK is unrecognisable from the country I grew up in, when it comes to crime (and values in general).
I think back to life in the 70s/80s and it's like some distant dream.

The Internet has been THE primary driver for decline for many issues imo.

Good luck with the recovery OP.
