Some help please on this 1680 Red

I'd be interested to hear what you guys think of this - I'm ready to press the button on a very nice MkV Red, it ticks all the boxes for me, including and perhaps most importantly, it's from a top rated seller.

But... my eye keeps getting drawn to the gap between the bezel insert (outer edge) and the inside lip of the bezel itself. It's worse at some points than others (10-15), and at a couple of points it also sits a little lower than the bezel (15 & 50).

Is it anything that should deter me from going ahead with this particular example, i.e. worn bezel preventing insert from sitting correctly? Or is this normal on older Subs?

This might sound a bit pedantic, but since this will be my most expensive vintage purchase to date, I want to get it right first time and avoid any unnecessary expendtire in the future i.e. anything other than routine servicing!

It looks good. It looks like one from Jacek @ hqmilton. He's a top notch guy.

It's fine, I think the crystal refraction might be giving you an optical illusion.

In any event, the bezel is the least of your worries for any watch like this. Focus on the dial, hands, case condition.

I was thinking about buying this one as well. A very fine watch for sure.

MK5 should be slightly open first "6" correct? I can not see from your scan so you might want to blow it up to make sure. I am sure its correct and its always good to double-check.

Best,

Fred

Zooming on an iPad shows that it is indeed a MK V dial.

My guess is that it's an optical illusion but perhaps you should just ask the seller. In my experience, he's very quick on email. I bought a red sub from him just a few weeks ago and am very happy with the transaction. Jacek is very smooth to deal with.

There is no gap.....

It is the bezel lip that you see sitting over the bezel insert keeping it in place. Good luck with the sale, it looks like a beautiful piece.
