Ingenieur automatic mission earth - reference 323601
Dear Friends,
I finally bought the 323601. Am really new to the IWC brand. So I hope to stick around the forums to learn more. My partner and I were in a hotel room earlier. I left my 323601 on the table. Unknown to me, she boiled a tub of water to make tea. The tub was really near my watch. Now, I am wondering whether will the heat cost any damage to my timepiece. I know I may be paranoid, as the 323601 is a robust, rugged model. It could be my OCD acting up. But, still I wonder… So if any of you guys know anything about this, do advise me. I do not wish to send in for servicing / testing so soon after I bought this watch… Please help! Regards! |

I've put my aquatimer through it all, they're tough watches. I'm sure it's fine.

It's fine. I sent my Mission Earth through hell and back, then right before trading it for the 5005, I sent it in for service and was told all it needed was a light refinish. Gaskets were fine, functions were fine... It's a robust piece of machinery, you have nothing to worry about.
Just to give you an idea of how rough I was on this watch, I left it on the roof of my car once, and then took off. Heard it sliding down, then hitting the pavement before I stopped.

thanks mosco. i have no doubt about the shock-resistance of this model.
my main concern is its ability to withstand the heat from the boiling pot. i have known you to be a wonderful trader of brands like IWC, AP, Rolex, etc on the forums. so i will be doubly assured if you can help confirm that the heat would do my watch no harm at all. thanks gain, my friend! regards! |

Just in the coming days look for things like condensation under crystal and extremely slow operation. If none of those symptoms appear, you're good.
