Shark Mesh on my Seamster Sword Hands

I picked up my new Omega shark mesh bracelet today for my Seamaster Sword Hands.

The first thing that struck me is that the clasp is seriously chunky. It can't be anything but chunky considering it was, I believe, originally designed for serious professional use on the Ploprof. Its also a lovely piece of engineering, great quality with smooth operation on the extendable clasp. One gets used to the size after a while but it looks like it will be a formidable scratch magnet!

The mesh is beautiful to look at. Again, its quite thick and elaborately constructed. The overall appearance is very masculine but also sophisticated. It does not look "blingy" to my eyes.

The truly surprising fact is that this bracelet is one of the most comfortable I have worn (coming only second to my Rolex Jubilee bracelet in the comfort and ease of use stakes).

Overall this is a beautiful bracelet and I'm very happy with it. Its going to stay on my Seamaster and its a good match with the watch. Yes, the clasp is huge but that's the nature of the beast and it gives the strap its unique look.

Thanks all.

But I do wonder, looking at it again, if the clasp is not too big for the watch. After all, Omega have fitted this to the Ploprof and Planet Ocean which are both thicker watches than the Seamster 300. Perhaps the Omega Mesh with the seatbelt style clasp would be better (if its still available).

That mesh looks great on you 2254, David. PloProf clasp is a beast, though. Original Omega mesh with the seatbelt buckle clasp is also great on SMPs, but a bit more difficult to find. I got hooked with it on my SM. Really an improvement over the original bracelet.

That mesh looks great on your 2254, David. PloProf clasps are imposing, though. Original Omega mesh bracelets with the seatbelt buckle clasp are great for SMPs, and are still around if you have patience. I just picked one up on Watchrecon and am hooked on it for my SM.

Looks fantastic, you are correct though, that clasp is a monster.

I love it guys!!!!
The mesh with seat buckle is iconic Omega.
Just don't try to test it out in a White Pointer's jaw

Thanks you all for your replies. The mesh itself looks great but I agree that the slimmer Seamaster is better served by the seatbelt clasp style bracelet ( like the one in Tom's post above) I have located one of these and ordered it so I may flip the Shark Mesh for the older style Omega mesh. The Shark mesh is a gorgeous bracelet but that clasp only really matches thick watches. As you can see from my photographs the clasp is at least double the thickness of my Seamaster

And the feel is smooth with no pinch? I'm looking at a shark as well. Thanks for the post, very helpful!

One of the best looking Omega divers and I think mesh is perfect match for that one.

Thank you everyone. And yes, the bracelet is very smooth with no pinch at all. A very comfortable bracelet - surprisingly so given the girth of the clasp. I know now that the mesh looks good on the watch but I'm going to swap it for the older Omega mesh with the thinner seatbelt style clasp. However, this particular mesh bracelet is a beautiful piece of work but I think it needs to be paired with a thicker cased watch.

After experimenting with the new Omega Shark Mesh I decided to go for the older Omega mesh, now discontinued but which can still be found new on the secondary market. I think this is a better fit for the smaller, more elegant proportions of Seamaster Pro due to the lower profile of the clasp. The chunky clasp on the current shark mesh offered by Omega looks great on a watch with a thicker case (Planet Ocean, Ploprof) but on the Pro that fantastic clasp (which really is a work of art) is about 3 times thicker than the watch so it looks out of proportion. I will probably sell the large clasped shark Mesh so if anyone is interested please pm me -
