Quit smoking cirgars after my 3rd heart attack.
Still drink, mostly reds.
Funny side note. Just moved my father back home from the nursing home.
Today he wants his cirgars.
Hospice nurse says let him have whatever he wants.
Taking him a mixed six pack of craft beers later.
FYI he's only 95.

I've been Straight Edge all my life. No drinking, no smoking, no drugs - I don't even drink soda anymore! I swear I'm not boring. I'm more into tattoos as my vice.

Mon, the fact that you can live the life and still look like the young Cary Grant and perform like Roger Federer is an inspiration to us all.
You should write the book - you could call it "Mon's guide to Health and Happiness".
It would be a bestseller!

BTW, the title of his book is: Dead Doctors Don't Lie.

Amazon sells it for $29 but most of it is available online to read.

It seems I've given up everything that I used to think made life pleasurable and somehow, I'm happier than ever.

It doesn't make sense.

I'm the same.

I Smoke, only when I drink.
I Drink 3 times a week.
I don't have a strict diet. I just try to avoid carbs as much as possible.

I exercise on and off, 3 moths religiously then I stop for 3 month etc..

I drink. I drink a lot.

But I don't smoke and I do watch what I eat.

Fwiw, if smoking didn't make me wheeze, smell and feel like crap and eating didn't make me fat, I'd prefer to do both.

Drinking? Well, I hope to never give that up. Personally, I think a day without drinking is a day that I'm missing out on some good times.

Things tend to change as you get older (except for superior physical specimens like Mon) and few of us can continue to 'go nuts' like we did when young.
I gave up smoking when I married a non-smoker and decided to be alcohol-free during the working week because I woke up lots better in the morning. I exercise for an hour daily because it makes me feel good and everything functions better.
If you have a positive mental attitude, no one or two things makes or breaks your life.
Let's face it, it is short enough, you have to optimise everything.

I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't eat red meats and I work out 90 minutes a day. Couple that with brown rice, veggies, fish and chicken and I should live forever.

I am reporting you to the un-American activities committee.

My great grandmother smoked cigars until the day she died - 108 y/o. Her son (my grandfather) lived a healthy life, exercised, never smoked, never drank, didn't eat red meats, and died at 72.

Moral of the story, you need to have one of the three vices to live past 100.

My Mum is almost 102. Never smoked or drank and did lots of walking during her life but NO specific exercise or sport.
Has eaten pretty much what she wanted all her life- fair bit of fat, salt, sugar.
(puts salt on bacon and icing sugar on banana custard)
Just good genes - no other excuse.

She proves my theory Rock, you have to have one of the three vices to live past 100 - food, tobacco, or alcohol.
