The visit you don't want...

A neighbor just dropped by to let me know I have a leak at my water meter. Have called the County and am waiting on a call back.

Wish me luck. I have visions of my watch budget going to dig up my front yard.

That's cool Rod! Post a pic of your Rolex and your water meter then your thread becomes relevant to this section!

Edit - the mods are too fast!!!!

In Atlanta a monthly water bill at some homes can approach the price of a Rolex.

A leak gets costly - good luck!

Craig, that looks like loads of fun. How are things in the 'burgh? Haven't visited since we moved back south from Morgantown, West(by God)Virginia back in '99.

Hopefully you'll just have to forgo a Timex and not a Rolex.

Good luck getting it sorted.

77T, I'm up in Forsyth so not too bad. I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't have sent that nasty email to the County last month.

Ah - much better. That Lake Lanier water tastes better anyway. Chattahoochee can be "tainted" if you know what I mean...

I'd tell the utility it's their meter and they can pay to fix it. Guess you tried that....

Neighbor had a sewer issue and the city dug up the yard. Was taking forever so I told them I was due for a colonoscopy and they hurried up for me.

Water dept was out at 2:00 am and left me a hang tag on the door advising me that the leak is on my side of the meter and wishing me good luck. I've contacted a plumber and hopefully the leak is not under the sidewalk. I hope the plumber leaves Murphy and his law book at home!

Thanks for all the good wishes.

All is fixed and good. The back flow valve had rusted through. Don't know why it was galvanized steel rather than brass. Did a great job and even replaced the sod. Of course any time a shovel hits the ground it's gonna cost you but could have been much worse.

I had nightmares last night of backhoes and concrete mixers.
