Customs duties - shipping a watch from UK to HK
Hi guys,
As per the title, I'd be interested to know if anyone has recent experience with buying watches abroad & the associated fees. I'm considering 2 watches, 1 Rolex and 1 by a smaller brand which is discounted 30% but also by a further 10-15% when i add it to the cart (I'm guessing VAT taken off?) The package should be sent by royal mail international, and just wondering if I should be aware of any likely customs fees. The watch is £2,000 approx, many thanks |

I think you'll need to D/W HK Customs and Excise. They should have a web-site. There will be no extra costs from the UK end.

There is nothing in HK, we're pretty lucky here for that !!
Only taxes are for liquors over 40% and any cigaret / tobacco related product. |

You could import a container load of Rolex watches into Hong Kong and there would be no import duty or tax. It's a free port, apart from the aforementioned smokes, most booze and (I think) perfumes.

I bought watches overseas in Europe and the AD take cares of the VAT free arrangement from her originate country (probably admin work and no cost of her part). They ship to HK via Ferrari. I do not think there are fees (apart from the shipping, which the AD pays for).

At what price point do people (based in Asia) consider it worth flying to Hong Kong to receive a package while on vacation instead of receiving a package in their home country?
