That's good for me because I will be able to afford many more, sooner than expected.

I have smart watches.

I quite like them.

I don't think they will take the place of real watches.

Cool device, and they'll likely sell boatloads of them to people who wouldn't otherwise wear a "watch". I think it will be somewhat fragile, and of course, it will be disposable after a year or two...I think I'll just stick to watches.

I have smart watches; I think they're a pain in the arse. The exception being those for tracking sports (swimming, running, bicycling).

Chaps

The man is a fool and should stick to talking about what he knows.

Most of us have a mobile phone, a tablet and a home PC when in reality we could make do with one.

We only really need one Rolex but many people have a dozen.

All that will happen is that we will buy his product as well as wearing a mechanical watch.

You did not buy your Rolex to tell the time, or swim in, or explore jungles etc, you bought it because it is a piece of mechanical art and that will continue.

Regards

Mick

Interesting that Jony Ive does not wear any sort if watch now.

I love tech...and apple products. However I don't think any tech company has realized how personal a decision it is - whether to wear a watch or not.

Many people don't want anything on their wrists. Doubt these folks will ever want a smart (or other) watch.

I work with guys who cant wait for this thing to come out and some are non watch wearers. So I guess it depends on your interests. Us here on this site love watches, others love technology and will dive in to whatever is the latest and greatest. Personally I'd pass on a "smart watch"

Dream on Apple which ever way they said it or mean it.

Don't get me wrong i like Apple products a lot (own iPhone 5 and soon a 6, a iPad Air and a MacBook Pro). But give me one reason to buy a iWatch. To read a text or a email and i can see the time and date. Whoop di doop. Sorry but i are really have a Phone for all of that. A watch is a mens jewelry (any brand) and the more expensive ones are pieces of menchanical art. Do we look at to know the time. Yes sometimes for me. If i want to know the time a look at any clock that is the easiest to look at for that moment. (most of the time i prefer my Rolex

Apple will probably sell a lot and that is good for them but wouldn't buy one. Not gonna need it and they probably look hilarious.

But i can't wait for the iPhone 6

I wouldn't be caught dead in a "Smart" watch! Just like I won't be caught dead in a Hybrid car!

If they catch on they'll probably expand the mechanical watch market - and lead to even bigger sizes.

If it drives the price of "real watches" down then all the better for the collectors of fine timepieces. Although I'm sure the smart watch will be cool with everything it will be able to do its still going to be a despicable item that will be out of date six months after its launch when something else comes out.
Rolex has and always will stand the test of time.

One major problem...let's see a smart watch passed from generation to generation. Each version will be obsolete in2-3 years, it's the way of modern technology.
