Icon20 Hello Shiny-Wristed People!

Hello!

Call me Prez if you like.

Also, if this isn't too off-topic how do you change the bezel on a GMT?

Hi Prez,

Welcome to TRF!! Nice to have you aboard.

Dunno much about the changing of the GMT bezel....wouldn't try it myself, but I think there's a link to that on our forum.

Cheers - JJ

In a review it said "within fifteen minutes". Do you have to pry it off or something?

Edit: Thanks and no I don't own I just dream (for the moment) ROFL

A word of advice, pal. If you've never done this kinda thing before, DON'T!! You'll make a mess of it and bound to lose some tiny bits. If you really have to change the bezel, your AD will do it in a jiffy.

Good luck - JJ

Welcome President.
I agree with JJ, that if you are concerned about swapping the bezel yourself then don't do it but, I have had my GMT for 25 years and I swap the bezel inserts out all of the time. All you need is some masking tape and a pen knife and it takes about three minutes from start to finish and does no damage to your watch if you follow the directions listed in the previously mentioned link. As far as small parts, there are no small parts to the GMT bezel as it is a non-ratcheting type bezel. It consists of three large components: bezel ring, insert, and bezel ring retaining spring which is a circular piece of spring steel. Hope this helps and good luck.

One of two ways, either do it yourself with a knife, tape and a new bezel insert (not recommended unless you want to crack/bend the insert if you haven't done it before), or, take the watch to an Authorised Dealer and they will gladly do it for you.

Welcome to TRF, Prez. You've gotten plenty of good answers to your changing bezel question.

My question to you is: Do you have a GMT; which bezel is on it now; and which one do you want to swap it out for?

And how about some pics.

I'm thinking of getting a new GMT with a stainless steel strap and a black bezel. At the moment I only have a functioning but damaged Tissot PR50.

Don't just think about it - DO IT.

You're looking at getting the best sport Rolex there is. I don't care what JJ says. You can't beat this baby.

Oh, you'll fit in nicely I think.

As well as "tosser" Prez, you will see "BKL" in posts. This refers to "Bald Kiwi Loon". I'm sure you can figure the rest out....

Funnily enough .........

No....

Actually it refers to a couple of things. Firstly one of my favorite bands is Fleetwood Mac, mainly the early Peter Green stuff but Lindsey Buckingham is talented too.

Also it refers to Mclaren, who just happen to be my favorite F1 team, with my favorite current driver (Alonso) and they made my favorite road car, the Mclaren F1.

BUT, I am thinking of going for a Powerbook in the near future.
