Bad Movies

I've always loved movies and during periods of my life I saw EVERYTHING and other periods hardly anything.

But there were always movies that were panned for various reasons. Some had to do with bloated budgets and bad press and others from bad director cuts, and/or films that were taken away from the director and cut by idiots. Hence the later releases of director cuts which were sometimes better and sometimes worse.

I remember Heavens Gate, was once called the worst film of all time and yet I really liked it, even though Kris Kristofferson was in it. (His movies all seemed to bomb).

Here some movies that bombed but were later classics or cult classics.

Here's a bunch of movies that people had a re-think about....

No amount of time or “ Cult “ status can fix

Agreed.

Any film that starts with an X is a horrific mistake.

Sorry X-Men fans. (and X-file)

Shawshank flopped. That is crazy. One of the best movies of all time. Wow. Surprising.

Amazing isn't it.

And some movies that did great at the box office are later an embarrassment.

Video made a lot of movies cult classics that didn't do well at the theaters due to timing, or how they were promoted.

Citizen Kane flopped.

https://www.insider.com/popular-movi...-flops-2018-11

Another interesting thing to do is to see who won Best Picture Oscars in any given year and see who they beat out. Some of those are incredible as well.

Absolute classics lost to mediocre films that didn't stand the test of time.

I hated fight Club. I would have walked out of the theatre except I was with several other people. We all have our preferences.

Back in the 80s, I worked on the edges of the film industry. Did some location scouting, worked for a small production company doing stills, worked on a few commercials doing stills (still pictures)....

I was buddies with a guy who directed straight-to-video movies that had well know B actors in them. They were often the bad guys or dangerous women in mainstream movies but weren't capable of carrying a top movie on their own. So they did a lot of B movies. David Carradine was one of better known of these guys, although he had some pretty good mainstream success.

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0142587/

They sold in Europe in places but mostly they went straight to video. There were a couple that hit the US box office. Steve did a lot more than that are shown here but a lot were foreign financed and sold only in Europe and never hit the US film distributors.

There are a lot of pieces to the film industry not counting soft porno and XXX which are their own genre.

Haha if you are a car guy, honestly it is a decent movie. Most people haven't seen him in Lord of War, that is actually one of my favorite movies.

The one of him I did like was… I think… Family man(?). Basically a man in mid-life crisis. I felt he did a very good job in that one, kind of got to the heart.

The rest however…. You’re right.

I thought he was playing to his strengths in ‘Raising Arizona’ too. Really goofy and funny.
