Periodic Service to Watches

would you all suggest to give our watches a periodic service every 5 years or so??
Dont you think this would be worse if he watch is working in good condition?

Im not a fun of opening watches and touch their mechanisms

Regards

No, I believe that your reasoning is incorrect..

After 5 years the watch has been running for 43,800 hours without stopping... the metal gears have been turning and meshing against one another and the entire gear train has been torquing and untorquing constantly... Oils have moved about and greases have been pushed out of the way... If you neglect it then it is going to stop catastrophically at some point.. The gaskets and seals have dried up and flexed thousands of times..

Why not just have it completely cleaned and oiled....what magic is let out of the case if it is opened.....

If you have it serviced by Rolex or a Rolex trained technician then there will be no problems caused by the removal of the caseback. You will cause more problems from not having the watch serviced.

For Rolex i've always gone for the 5 years mark, if the watch is still working well, if there is a problem then it's done before that. I've owned a few makes and the way i work out if it requires a service is:

21600vph movement watch = 6 year service interval
28800vph movement watch = 5 year service interval
36000vph movement watch = 4 year service interval

I should mention i've owned a few Zeniths so i've had a few watches sent off for their 4 year service

Get it serviced and it will serve you well for many years to come.
