Replacing Sapphire Crystal
I am brand new to this forum and have a question. I have a 1989 Sea Dweller that needs the crystal replaced. It has a few chips on the sides that bothers me. It also has never been cleaned since I purchased in in 89. How much do you think it is going to cost to replace the sapphire crystal, general cleaning and maintenance?
Thank you very much for your time. |

Welcome to the forum. I've had two GMTs serviced at RSC Dallas this year, and their base price for a full service, including bezel insert/crown/case tube replacement is $550. I've had the chrystals replaced on both of them, and that added (I believe) $135 to the price. You can pay less by going to an independant watchmaker with a Rolex parts account, but personally I prefer to use the RSC.

It could range from 400 to 700 for a complete service with some parts exchanged. It could be much less if you're only having the crystal changed and cleaning.

yeah I just acquired a none working perpetual day date, and am a little apprehensive now what its going to cost for servicing and exactly what it needs to get that powerplant back on track.

Thank you all for the welcome and quick reply. I have been doing some research on this and noticed some of you sent your Rolex directly to RSC in Dallas while others took your watch to your local jeweler to send to RSC in Dallas. Is there a difference in price?
Thanks! |

I've heard that some charge for shipping, but if they do, send it in yourself.... Give the RSC a call and they will send you a sipping kit..
