How to improvise (lol)

I really wish these had come out better but I do not have the proper lighting etc. and didn't really feel up to the task of rigging up a macro setup. I did have fun though. There are no words to describe what I felt when I saw that movement and heard it's wonderful heartbeat!

You know.............I don't really know. Curiosity got the best of me I guess. I wanted some photos of my own. I did lightly coat the O-ring with silicone and as I screwed the case back down I turned down then backed off a tad, turned down then backed off a tad, and so on until it was tight. I was told that this method allowed the O-ring to be balanced around the entire watch as opposed to possibly putting torsion on it and becoming twisted etc. Not sure if there is any truth to this but it seems fairly logical.

I have to admit that I freaked out when I saw the hacksaw.

I was glad to see the thread came out all right after all.

I must say,your a braver man than I!!!
I would advise you to take it in for a pressure test though before you go swimming or diving........

After having opened your watch, you need to have it tested for pressure before swimming or showering with it. So was it worth it opening it?

That's a creative way to hold the watch in position.

Obviously not a Texan... we'd have used duct tape!

Very cool - you did what I would like to do, but don't have the nerve to...

Thanks for all the kind comments. As I said I wish I gotten some shots with better composition etc. but oh well. I have already give her a bath since replacing the case back. It is amazing what kind of gunk comes out of that bracelet after not cleaning the watch in a few months. YUCK!

Innovative , but as others asked : Why ? Ok you wanted pictures . For what reason ? Maybe you doubted the authenticity of the watch ?
Otherwise I have learned to obey the " if it ain't broken don't fix it " as similar type of experiments have cost me thousands .
You now have gained that you will take of your watch before entering the bathroom as there is now a little voice in the back of your head going " I'm not sure the watch is watertight after opening "...

I am one of those that cannot leave things alone. I always took my toys apart as a kid. I was picking up lawnmowers off the side of the road at 10 years old, fixing them up and selling them. I guess my fascination with mechanical watches is just all part of the "sickness" . I didn't doubt authenticity as I have asked that question here a few times about purchasing from an AD so I was pretty confident that my LV was authentic. As I said, I did it just to do it. If it leaks then I take full responsibility and will say to myself "Joshua, you my good sir, are an idiot." I will just have to dip into my ongoing service fund early.

Good job, and I applaud your curiosity. Not a bad idea to have it pressure checked. You'll then know if your mechanical technique is up to snuff.

Nice holder
Now to pressure test you need a couple hundred feet of string, a lead weight and a boat, magic marker to mark the depths on the string....
