Picking Up 312 From Panerai Dealers But I Have A Dilema!!!

Hi guys

As discussed on an earlier post I am picking up my new 312 tomorrow but I have just been drawn to a 233 which I have briefly looked at but not in much detail as I thought they were over the £10000 mark.

After digging a little further I have seen them at around the £7500 mark!!!

real problems now as my dealer has one in stock!!! What would you go for?? I love the 312 but would like a little more on the dial which is where the 233 comes in!!! Arghhhh

Some pics would help me decide I am sure - come on folks a little help is required.

Thanks in advance

Now that's a dilema! I tried on a 270 recently in the NYC Boutique and have to say it looked great but I still love my 312 and it didn't have enough to make me want to flip. I just want both!

Good luck with the decision and look forward to the pictures.

If the funds are available I would go straight to a 233

Does it have the "Dot" or "am/pm" indicator? The "Dot" is the only one I like. For what it's worth, there has been an onging pole here regarding which one is more popular and the 312 continues to beat out the 233. In terms of bang for your buck, as well as dial simplicity, I say 312!

Good luck!

Appreciate the feedback - had the 312 before and loved it - think I will have to make my mind up onsite as they say! Thanks guys

Not sure yet Bryan as I have not seen it - I too prefer the am/pm version but will update you tomorrow.

Thanks Matt

Rest assured my good man the pictures as usual will follow tomorrow!!!

Looking forward to whichever model I go for - in my heart of hearts I can't turn back the 312 as it really is a great looking watch as you know Adrian.

So it continues..............

I prefer the 312. The 233 and 270's dials are too busy for me. What I like about Panerai dials are the simplicity. I have a Navitimer World for when I want a busy dial.

I am confused as to the amount of people who cannot pick between these to models. The 233 IMHO blows the 312 out of the water if funds are available. The 312 is a great watch and for the money may be difficult to beat but it is no 233. I even prefer the 270 over the 312 but thats just me.

i dont think the 233 even really competes with the 312. the dials are still pretty clean on the 233. Also the movement is different too, so i think its basically it will be a $$ decision and if you can get the 233 without any real debt then the decision is clear.

I would do the 233 if i had to make the same choice.

312 for me.
It has a cleaner dial, and it's an automatic movement (vs manual for the 233).

Two very different watches - do you prefer...

Handwound or auto?
Clean dial or busy(er)?
GMT function or not?
Slimmer case (233) or taller (312)
Domed crystal (233) or not (312)
Smaller arabics with '9' (312) or larger with just '12' and '6' (233)
etc...

Cheers

I have both right now. I know I like the 312 but 312 can go anytime. Whereas 233 is here to stay permanently.

233 beats the 312 easily in my opinion

Unabashed 312 lover and owner here, but I'd get the 233 if the funds allowed. Love the movement, and love the dome. That said, my 312 is going nowhere!

like comparing apples and oranges...

312 is a basic automatic movement, 233 is a complicated hand wind movement.
In my mind, they are two very different watches.

im lazy and hate manual wind plus i can never tell what time it is via GMT.....but i do agree w/ some of the guys above as in the 233 and 312 are in 2 different categories. thats like picking a daytona vs the new sub.

is that a 312 in your avatar? i cant make out the 312 or 320 with that glare/reflection of the light, it could hide the GMT hand.

Anyway congratss!!!!

Oh well - 312 now up for sale as when I picked it up the salesman tempted me with the gold version of the 233 (can't remember the reference) but unfortunately I am hooked!! He has offered it me at £14000GBP is that a good price or should I get more off?? Retail is nearly £18000GBP. Thanks in advance!

I have had both, both are "top notch", but if $$$ is not a concern, you must do the 233. It's simply in class by itself.

I've owned about 10 Rolexes and 5 PAMs in my life and the 233 is the only one of the lot that I just can't imagine flipping.
