Hey Guys--

What's your take on the Blancpain Bathyscaphe and how do you think it fairs against a classic diver such as the 114060.

I know Blancpain has an incredible amount of diver heritage--never actually handled a Bathyscaphe in the metal--wondering how fit and finish compares to Rolex.

FF is higher I'd say. I owned one for a short while - it was about then I realized 43 too large
For my 6.5 wrist. Love the bezel / sailcloth / long power reserve. The hour markers are very shiny so be prepared for that

This. BP is a higher level of watchmaker IMHO than Rolex, but its more about the individual fit for you with that model than the other features. Granted if you have a 7 inch or bigger wrist that shouldnt be much be much of a problem

Me personally, despite the heritage and history, I think the Blancpain looks cheap. I don't like it at all.

I've owned the 114060, its now gone.

I still own the stainless Bathyscaphe. Its very unique with a minimalistic, less is more approach to the dial which I really dig.

The 114060 has a classic design but I dare to say I like the 14060 better. The new supercases have way to much of a squared off lug for my taste. Looks like a square on your wrist.

For me, the design of a watch lies mostly in the dial and hand design - and case design second. Hence, the BB is too anemic compared to the balanced 114060. IM(H)O.

Rolex submariner. But this is TRF. I thought about the bathyscape myself once. But to me it just looks like an ORis on steroids.

I would have seriously considered the Bathyscaphe, were it not for the 43mm size... too big for my 6.5" wrist. It has many of the attributes I value: fully graduated bezel, date with no cyclops, and exhibition case back. Went the SD4K route instead.

Against the Bathyscape, it's an easy choice in favor of the sub. A FF would be harder, although I'd probably still go for the sub.

Bathyscape is a bit too bland for me and the FF maybe a bit too much in size and thickness, the Subc is just right.

I was fascinated by bp ff but only for a short while. I think it's more of a "crush" and then it goes away, then onto something else. But sub (mine is 14060) stays with you, the feeling of engagement is always there, non-fleeting, a joy to look at every single day:)

After owning the FF and several Subc examples it is the Sub that still remains in my collection. I completely agree Neil!!

The FF is a nice watch but the 114060 is the watch for me. Almost perfect for the SS sports watch.
