It's an amazing watch from Rolex no doubt. But why someone would put a house down-payment on what looks like any other Daytona to the untrained eye is just as amazing.

It’s a non issue if you’re buying at retail. You won’t ever have to worry about losing money on it so why not!?

Even at market value there’s an argument for it. If you can afford it, you’re probably not thinking of it as a house down payment, you’re thinking of it the way I think of a new bicycle or sneaker money 😂

People have much worse and expensive hobbies about there. Life is short.

I live in an area where even the market price of this watch would not cover down payment for a house.

Agreed.

And anyone that bought grey before W&W this year will also totally be fine

LOL. Same here. But it would be a great watch to have.

Without a hook, you'll never get one unless you're the guy who pays the grey money. Your hook is not gonna be your local AD either, unless it's one of the big "special" AD. At 50k MSRP ish - I'd buy for sure. At grey, no. But, I love it and hope lots of pics float around because it's awesome to check out. Doubtful I will ever see one in person.

In the end, Daytona was the moon itself

One of Rolex’s best, if not best. And discontinued after 9 months, gonna get ugly.
