James Bond 2019, gets a Fitbit Watch

Today on BBC News I heard

(don’t shoot the messenger!)

James Bond will be back in action in 2019, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Eon Productions said Monday. The 25th film about the legendary super-spy will hit theaters on Nov. 8, 2019. There’s no word yet on whether or not Daniel Craig will be cast as the role of Bond however there was mention that 1980’s front man Morrissey of The Smith had been approached with a view of taking a more modern approach to the role of Bond .

The companies said that additional details regarding the film’s distribution, including international release dates, its cast and director, will be announced at a later date. However, some insiders believe that there is a good chance the tradition Bond watch is likely to be replaced by a Fitbit watch……..

The Bond franchise long ago sold its soul to corporate sponsorships and product placements to fund production. If so, it means Fitbit outbid Omega for product placement.

This. As a 007 fan, I prefer the old movies, anyway. Casino Royal was decent but everything else newer...meh

Meh. oh well. Bond will probably be wearing skinny pants and sipping on some Starbucks drinks too. Goodbye for me.

Say it isn’t so!

Craig announced that he was going to do one more film. Maybe that’s changed. With the money that the last several films have made, Eon would be crazy not to bring him back.

Morrissey as Bond? You have more chance of finding a Daytona C at an AD and getting a discount on it. Whilst he’s way too old at 58, he would certainly be ‘modern’ alright.

I will also bet that he will hand in that dangerous PPK for a non-lethal plastic so called gun. Will also quit drinking alcohol for a vegan shake. And no more punching or causing the bad guys bodily harm.

Maybe they will spend 15 min of the film showing Bond doing yoga!!!

Rolex missed the boat on this. They could have introduced a 25th Anniversary Bond Sub.

Discretely, of course. Not with a bunch of 007 junk hanging off it.

Actually I’m surprised it’s not a Hublot or a Tag.

Not a DC fan at all. The last film was a huge disappointment hoping that CW could carry the movie but he was handed a turd. I hope it does not turn into a Apple phone/watch/cell car/ apple martini film to appeal to y2k crowd....but im guessing it will ....if it keeps going.
At least we have cold war/ bad guy again.

Sean Connery wouldn't be wearing any Fit-Bit, that I'm sure of.

I am happy to have grown up in an era when the perfect Bond - Sean Connery - brought the character to life in several films that owed some similarity to the source material.
The franchise subsequently made many very mediocre films, mostly with actors that deserved better material.
I thought Daniel Craig was excellent and ushered in an era of vastly better scripts/plots. It would be nice if they could save the iWatch and the Tesla for the next guy.

I love these movies and it's always interesting to see what they do in regards to product placements. One would think as the film moves with the times it would be possible for one to be used as a "gadget" even though they're not really doing this so much now. I'm sure it would end up being part of a few different things / pieces the character wears. Either way, it's always a nice feeling for me when a new Bond film releases!
