Does this 16800 Sub match up? Thinking about purchasing?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/272220640588...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

This Sub is for sale on ebay, but the store is around the corner from where I live in LI. I went down to check it out seemed nice to me. My concern I don't know the reputation of the pawn/ jewelry shop. He also said his bottom price is 5900 cash.

Thanks Guys Appreciate the help

I should also note that the seller just seemed pushy, telling me I was never going to find one in this condition, which made me weary

Do some homework here on TRF...search the For Sale/Classifieds under 16800...I found trusted sellers, with solid reps selling that 16800 cheaper than what he's asking...DO YOUR HOMEWORK

Maybe I'm missing something, but part of doing his homework is appealing and reaching out to the experts here on the forum...which is what he's doing.

I've been casually looking for a 16800 birth year. At first glance it was OK (matching patina on dial, hands, bezel... good case)... but noticed a few things:

1) dial chip at the "S" in Submariner
2) second hand lume does not match (greenish)
3) Bracelet is pretty rough and clasp is beat to hell

~$6K will buy a much nicer example from solid dealer. Be patient!

Looks like all three hands have been relumed, and not very well. Look at how it's already crumbling on the minute hand.

Exactly! He reached out, and I gave him solid answers.

1. There are better deals here with your TRF family of Trusted Sellers.

2.Do some homework, and learn at the same time, instead of just asking for the answers...go find the answers.(what a concept)

So maybe I'm missing something

Btw...no offense was ever originally intended OP

Thank you Gents!! Yes the second hand was replaced I forgot to mention that, and I did notice the chip by the "S". I'm known to make impulsive buys, am glad I shot this one by some people with more knowledge then me!!!

here's my advice.

The listing price on ebay is $5992 which net of fees would be c. $5300 if he sold it on ebay.

Your pitch would be lets meet somewhere in the middle by going to store and doing cash transaction. Now you're looking at c. $5600 which may be more appealing to you.

Saying that, the dial chip would bug me and the clasp is bent. I've bought a 16610 with B&P for c. $4K so thats sadly my benchmark (though that price is not realistic anymore)

Yeah 5600 would definitely be more appealing, but your right that chip may get annoying after a while. I think I may hold off on this and continue to look. I feel I can get one in that price range in better condition?

It would bother you to no end with the chip and the bent up clasp.

It's a "no-go" with that chip in the dial
